Biker Girl Chic

Hold on to your seats, friends because this is my contribution to the Sew n’ Style Design Contest by Lil Luxe Collection!  It is wild and a little insane and there’s lots of vegan leather everywhere but it was SO much fun to make.  Plus, little Vivsie modeled it all and her abundance of sass most definitely manifests itself in these pictures.  Enjoy!

The first outfit I made was a version of the Alley Cat Romper by Lil Luxe.  Ahem, a harem-style romper on a 4 year old??  Excuse me while I go die of cuteness.  I used this slightly flawed knit from Girl Charlee because I love the print and I’m all about bargains!   GC’s vegan leather was a natural choice for the sleeves.  And that low back??  LOVE!

**What’s that you say? Vivian’s toes are bloody? Nah, that’s just the remnants of her self-administered pedicure from earlier in the day. Her bedsheets and comforter also got the royal treatment.

I KNEW she had to have a faux leather dress for the collection so I hacked the Infinite A-line pattern for this fun circle-skirt version (tutorial post coming soon!).  I really liked the idea of a tulle or net petticoat so I whipped this tutu up from Delia’s tutorial.  But it didn’t quite lay right under the dress’s circle skirt so we threw it on top for fun!

aaIMG_2761I was also dying to make a faux fur vest for the girls this fall and so this came about (also an Infinite A-line hack).  It is sooo soft and Vivian just couldn’t stop petting it.  Fun fact: It’s still over 100 degrees most days here in Arizona…including the day we shot these pictures.  Evidently, a roll of Mentos is all it takes to get a 4 year old to wear a plastic dress, boots and fur vest outside in the heat of a never-ending Phoenix summer.  What a trooper!

Lastly, I made this ridiculously fun version of the Slim Trousers as well as a Lakeshore Crop Jacket.

aaIMG_2848These pants are freaking fantastic, if I may say so.  I mean, seriously.  Isn’t that aztec print phenomenal? Plus, piping!

(I believe I got the aztec from Joann Fabrics…it was in The Stash so I can’t be sure!)

And those rear pockets make me wanna pinch this girl’s buns even more than I already do.  Plus…did I mention piping?!

The jacket on the other hand…not my best work.  My fabric was a cheap polyester that didn’t press well and I totally put my cuff pleats on the wrong side of the sleeve.  Doh.  I love the pattern, though, and am looking forward to trying my hand at it again under more favorable fabric conditions.

Be sure to check out Jessica’s link-up to all the other Sew n’ Style creations…SO many amazing little outfits, plus a HUGE giveaway!
